The movies one loves say a lot about a person. Especially intriguing are the loves from a particular year. So to celebrate the near termination of 2006, finally, I list here the top 10 TV/Movie DVD Series I enjoyed or discovered this year. We are a bit unusual in that we don't have cable anymore as I had it shut off. Thus, to get our TV fix we went with Netflix, and hence, watch a lot of DVD's. So much for trying to encourage less TV time and more book time. I guess I should have invested in a magazine subscription if I had really been dedicated to the idea. As a result of our choice we are behind in current popular movies and TV shows. It's actually kind of nice to choose without influence from the TV itself. The list is then a bit untimely and out of the totally normal. Just the way I like it.
By writing the list out, I come out just a little bit further. OK, so revealing movie loves isn't quite as exposing as actually revealing an alternative sexual orientation, but I feel outted nevertheless. Be afraid, be very afraid...
At this point they are still in no particular order, so until further notice...
- Little Britain
- Wire in the Blood
- Prime Suspect
- Sherlock Holmes, all of them
- Rumpole of the Bailey
- Grounded for Life
- Penn and Teller: Bullshit
- Good Neighbors
- Cracker
- Absolutely Fabulous
So someone commented that they had never heard of any of these. Huh, I knew I was a bit odd. Who else hasn't or has heard of these flicks? Also, won't you come out and play with me by commenting with your favorite finds this year? Join the flick fess up...

I also don't watch TV and I'm addicted to NetFlix instead. But, I've never seen any of those!!
Never heard of any of these. I haven't seen any movies this year. Too much blogging I guess.
I've seen some of them. Very british isn't the list?
And hey, I tagged you on the 6 weird things meme!
Thomas the Tank Engine

Thomas the Tank Engine.
Oh, you meant what we rented for ourselves? Bwahahahahah.
I need to move Little Britain Series 3 up higher on my list. Series 2 made me pee I laughed so hard.
We've been working oru way through re-watching "Homicide, Life on the Street," which rocks.
I'm renting "Bones" even though I just watched it last season because it gives me a bit of a Buffy fix even though Boreanaz is nothing like he was on Angel.
I've got a very full list. O wants to rent Deadwood. I want to work back through all of Xena: Warrior Princess. I think that woudl be a better role model for the kiddos.
Thanks for stopping by my Sunflower blog! Here is one minute for you!
I will exercise for comments!

Hi I bounced over here from sharla dawn's place. I went to your begining and read all of your posts. Sounds like your having a fun time on the bipolar rollar coaster...make sure you hang on...whether your on an up or a down...just wait a bit and it will pass. I find that to be the mostest fun that I can come up with for having bipolar.
I am going to blogroll you at my place...drop by if you have a moment.
I must first warn you there is swearing and stupidity at my place :)
If there really are people in the world who have never heard of Prime Suspect and Absolutely Fabulous, I don't want to meet them .. Actually, that sounded a bit mean, but so what?
AbFab is the best, evah. I cracked up and died when she was the voice of the Fairy Godmother in Shrek.
I didn't answer the question about what I DO watch. I get a lot of really old movies (Invasion of the Bodysnatcher, The Blob) and not-so-old (Snatch, Crash, Kill Bill), and a lot of TV because I don't have one (Battlestar Gallactica, Doctor Who, The 4400). Hmmm. I seem to watch a lot of SciFi.
I love netflix its the greatest ever. Our dvd player is gone right now so we got to get a new one first. I have to say except for grounded for life I don't recognize any of them
I've never heard of any of them either. :) Sorry! Did you see Kinky Boots? I haven't yet but my 17 yr old sister in law loves it. I think it sounds like a porno, but it's not!
I don't think I've seen a single one of these. Maybe I should make my viewing list from here. Anything voiolent? I don't like violence. I'm a wimp.
I never watch TV. I read. Play on the computer. Watch an occasional large screen movie, the kind that costs your first born these days--very occasionally!
i love, love, love little britain. i wish they would play it in the US more. i have it tivo'd permanently, and every once in awhile an episode shows up for me to watch -- but never enough to satisfy me. those guys are just hilarious.
Nicole, I'm not familiar with your choices, either, but that makes them all the more intriguing!
I would heartily recommend the last two movies we Netflixed, Little Miss Sunshine and A Scanner Darkly, the latter of which is based on a Philip K. Dick novel. It is animated in a very unusual style that is so trippy as to be initially distracting, but fits very well with the story and ultimately adds to the production.
I've got to start methodically keeping lists of the movies I watch, to supplement the lists I keep of the books I read. It might shame me into reading more, as having a movie list longer than my book list would depress me.
