If it's not NPR, it sucks.

While driving through our tiny downtown area the other day, I was bopping along to our local college radio station. You know the type. They play some good alternative music, along with episodes of music where I wonder out loud whether the college generation has gone totally tone deaf, and then those station saving sections where they have a theme like jazz, or acoustic, etc. After one of their better songs, the DJ comes back on and starts talking about the end of 2007. This is what she said:

"Well, I am sorry to see 2007 go. It was an incredible year. We saw Britney shave her head and Paris Hilton go to jail. What a year! Can't wait to see what 2008 has in store for us."

Um, what?!?!? That's how they mark the incredible events of 2007?!?!? Fucking unbelievable. Granted, 2007, wasn't a great landmark year, but surely the supposedly half educated among us (in other words, college students) can find real things that happened, and not what the latest tabloid-queens have been doing. Pathetic.

Just another example that proves, if it's not NPR, it sucks.

In other news, Husband and I went for the anatomy scan yesterday. It was to say the least, spectacular! This whole pregnancy feels so much more real and apparently there really is some kind of baby in there. One that moves, even. And, since the technician couldn't find anything that resembled a penis, we are running with the idea that it's a girl or a baby boy without a penis. Take your pick.

And now for your viewing pleasure, here's an image of her very strong arm.

Wow. How exciting!!Congratulations!!

As for radio, do you know how many people signed on to an electronic petition to get Paris out of jail - based on the fact that she has done so much to "help" society? People are ridiculous.

May I please extend your comment about "radio stations suck if they are not NPR" to include major tv station nightly news programs?

That's a great US pic, and honestly, I recognize it, but I can't help but wonder what other average people would see?

It's just that after my last one, I showed someone a photo, and they commented that it looked like a duck!

Your daughter to be looks like a baby however, really. Really. Chuckle

That's one NICE arm bone your kid's got there!

I'm with you on the NPR. Since moving to NYC 2+ (god, has it been that long) and giving up my car I no longer listen to the radio much but did tune in to NPR on our recent road trip and even got "Dad" hooked on it's excellent programming. I wish they made iPods that picked up radio signals.

Enjoy your pregnancy!

Beautiful, beautiful scan.

Based on your description, it certainly sounds like a girl, but, unless you were able to get a *really* good look, it's not a complete certainty. It's rare, but I had one friend who had a similar result on her scan. And let's just say that her little boy was wearing a lot of adorable pink outfits for the first few months.

as if they needed any more publicity.

GREAT picture!! so happy for your fantastic scan!

oh so cute! i'm happy you're having a girl so we can compare notes about that! what a wonderful thing to see. i am so delighted for you. can you say what week you are in in your posts or do you not want to do that? it's funny how it all becomes a blur later. i kept a journal during my pregnancy and wrote in it almost every night, which now seems incredible as i would never be able to do it, but it is nice to think i can look back on it someday. i would not want my daughter to ever see it, but i did write her a letter before she was born.
maybe later on in your last month, you might want to do that...
